I wanted the space to represent the way he feels about Gatlin: unsatisfied. The space will feel claustrophobic, dark, hard, lived in, yet making sure that it still speaks to Ethan's character by adding books, posters, sports medals, etc. Also, having a window looking straight up at the sky will connect him with Lena. He has made this space for himself but feels like it's not enough. The bedroom is as comfortable as he can make it. He appears to be too big for the bedroom.
